First, let's take a look at what you've got already obtained on your OS X system. In Cocoa apps, a proper click on a phrase will even give you the choice to look it up in the constructed-in Dictionary utility. You may also use the Services menu in enabled purposes to search for a chosen phrase in Dictionary, and assign keyboard shortcuts in non-Cocoa apps to utilize the lookup service. Text editors are, fairly obviously, not word processors. You can even outline phrases you generally mistype as triggers which insert the proper phrase robotically, making it a DIY auto-correct utility. If you're keyboard-inclined (as many writers are, I assume), such editors might be nice for getting ideas rolling out quickly and dealing with formatting on-the-fly. For example, I can sort "The Unofficial Apple Weblog" by keying in ",tuaw" in any compatible application. Watch the feedback, I am certain some more gems will pop up down there.
